Take it to a transmission shop and have them put their computer on it. They should be able to tell you what is slipping. The PCM has the ability to compare the gear selected to the RPM and output speed to determine if something is slipping. I would assume the converter is bad but that like throwing money away to replace parts without having it thoroughly inspected.
