Well we're stuck with the stock waterpump, which seems fine. My thinking on this is ...

    Wouldn't a two core 34" radiator with a 180° thermo cool better than a single core 34" radiator with a 160° thermo?

Reason being, I'll assume the 160° stays open all the time...that's not the best way to dissipate heat from what I understand as the coolant doesn't stay in the rad for very long.

What do you guys think? Also, does anyone know if Goodyear makes the HiMilar hoses for our trucks too?

I know the coolant doesn't stay too long in the 5.3 27" rad. I like to know how much longer it stays in the 34". I be willing to bet a 4 core with a 180 would prolly run the same temp but cool down alot cooler once the fans were on or you started moving?
    I'm only guessing though.

Volant has come out with some cool hoses. I believe thay have a few color choices as well.

    Personally
I feel the cooling sys is def not set up to cool the truck
I have the stock fan, stock rad and a 180 F
I added a temp gauge to see what was really going on.
I can jump off the freeway where the gauge was sitting at 185
Hit a light and within a couple of min temps go right to
    210 - 212
Then it takes some driving for it to cool back to 185.
If I am in stop and go - I wont - It will stay over 200
I am going to change the stat to 160 F
Change the rad to the 6.0 34"
I feel it should stay cooler than it does.
I feel the cooling sys is just not up to the task.
I also dont have the Calif and Texas heat - cant imagine what you guys see

I thought we could run an electric water pump with a little work ? Is this not true ?

Also has anyone thought of having an aluminum radiator built to our specs ? Maybe it's time for a group purchase from Griffin or the likes

creederado... thanks for that info! I sent them an email today. lol

02Denali... well you'd have to get a two core made. I'm thinking I can purchase a bad 28" rad, have it recored to the two core 34" then sell my existing 34" and probably break even on it. I'd assume any competent rad shop can do this so long as you bring the end tanks.

csherma1... Well I have a single core 34" now, it cools far better than the stock 28" single core did. Still it seems to lack... FYI my F150 has a FOUR core radiator, 180° thermo, and a high flow water pump that flows ~25% more than stock...that's cooled by the LS1 fans. The cooling system is great on there.

redaddiction...hrm, I only wonder how an electric pump would be in a daily useage. If it take a poo on you, you're pretty much stuck where you're at. I recall it needing a few different pulleys to fit on a truck. Nothing too difficult.

Now, I recall when I purchased that Flow Kooler pump for the Ford I was reading about the tech aspect of it. Apparently something within the pump helps prevent cavitation (I guess bubbles and whatnot). I think it was something simple like an added piece to the impeller.

Anyone taken an Gen III/LS1 water pump apart to see the insides?

If I remember correctly my bud bought a two core rad from Summit for his truck. 34" wide and about 2" thick at the core. Funny thing was he ordered it in the Oldsmobile? configuration to pull the water from the bottom of the tank on the driver side.

There's a 28" single core with ATF cooler

    34" single core with ATF
34" single with ATF and motor oil
