    Arrow LQ4 vs. LS1 flexplate question

    Hello all, Is the LQ4 flex plate and a LS1 flex plate the same? I had my precision stall converter re stalled and they made the motor side snout a little longer so it would bolt up the a LS motor. It fits fine but the snout is all the way in and the flex plate is about 1/4 to 5/16's away from the plate I have and the holes are not perfectly aligned.

    If it is different then can I just bolt up a LS1 flex plate? will it be the same tooth for the stock starter on the LQ4 motor?

    Are you sure you have the converter seated all the way into the pump? If not, that is one sure fire way to break the front pump. I can't remember the measurement, but it has to be in correctly. I had to stand my 80e on end to get the converter to drop all the way on.

    Yes, there is a difference in the early model LQ4 flywheels vs the LS1 flywheel. I believe its 1999-2001 has a longer snout on the end of the crankshaft, so the flywheel is flat. The later models have a dished flywheel like the LS1.

    How far does the end of the crank stick out past the oil seal on your engine?

    Found the answer:

    Most of the LSx motors use a shorter crank shaft than the older GEN I and II SBC`s. The exception is the 1999-00 6.0L motors which use a crankshaft that is the same offset as the GEN I and II SBC`s.

    Just thought I would share in case someone else runs into this issue.
