Funny thing just happened, I was surfing a V-Max forum and ran across a guy named "farmtruc".

I thought to myself, it can't be Allen. Guess I was wrong.

    BTW: I have a 85

    LOL, that's probably me.

Wow an '85, Yamaha made a lot of changes to the bike since then, hahahah, mine looks so much better. JK. That's one reason I bought it...

I owned it's baby brother, a 1985 Yamaha MaximX 700. I always wanted a Vmax though. I didn't even realize they still made them, and they still look the same!!! Back in the 80's, they were a 10 sec bike, I wonder what they are now? My MaximX was a 12 sec bike stock, and it was only a 700cc.

How much are they going for these days?

Your not JK. Yours does look a hell of a lot better than mine. I just ran up on too good of a deal to pass up.

In 85, Yamaha paid some pro riders to make runs and a few hit hi 10's with them. Almost all of the time slips that I've see on them were in the 11's.

The prices vary a lot depending on the year and mileage but a friend on mine had this one. He had just bought a new Harley. The Vmax needed a little work (rear tire, battery, general service) and he didn't want to tie any more money up in it. He sold it to me for $2500. I'll have $3k in it by the time I get it the way I want it but that at least $500-1000 cheaper than I could get a comparable one from Ebay.

Mine also came with a couple of nice mods. It has Dale Walker 4 into 2 exhaust that looks new($900 and I got the receipt), it's lowered 1.5" in the rear with progressive shocks, stage one jet kit, and K&N filter. It also came with a lowering kit for the front in the box. I'll get that in soon. I've already ordered a shorter side stand that I'll have to put on before lowering the front.

Yes, I am, they are all nice! I like it, the bike hasn't changed forever.

Have you seen new prototype? I'm definitely getting one of those! I also like the new Yamaha Raider, but my sister wants to sale me her Roadstar, it's all done up, engine, wheels, etc. Hard choice.
