    E-fan help VSC

I am getting some LS1 fans this week, and I wasn't sure on where to get a VSC (variable speed controller). There is a flex-a-lite VSC like the one in this article: LS1 Fan Install but i'm not sure where to get it.

The reason I don't want to hardwire it to the PCM is because it is my daily driver, so when I have to send my computer off to be re-tuned I use my stock computer and I would like the fans to work all the time, not just when my tuned PCM is in.

    Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

well you can do several things really, if you dont want it to run off of the pcm.

My first suggestion is to use a VSC, it still uses a temperature probe, that goes through the radiator, but is slightly inaccurate.

The next thing you could do is just make your own harness, using several relays and keep the fans on low, or high, or whatever you want all the time.

I would at least use a VSC or a harness of some sort that runs off of the temperatures in the vehichle, because then the fans wont be on constantly.

Or you can just buy a Nelson fan harness and install it. Have your tuner turn on PIN 42 and you are set. If you absolutely need to, you can wire in a toggle switch from the battery to the fans until your harness and tune get to you...

so all he has to do is turn on pin 42? it will still work with high/low settings and with the AC/temperature perfectly?

Yup, sure will. Well, you have to tell the tuner that you are getting efans and he will take care of the rest, hopefully reconfiguring a few settings and turning on PIN 42. The harness is just like factory--it installs easily and there is a pin for hole #42 on the PCM and you pin it yourself. Pretty easy. The PCM will tell the fans to come on--at whatever temp the gauge reads, if the A/C is on, 60% load or 100% load. Its all programmed into the PCM.

Thank you for the information! You really helped out a lot. I have one more quick question, would having the PCM tuned for the fans even if they weren't installed yet have any negative effects?

Absolutely not , has no effect , the pins (33, 42) are grounds anyways .
Now what is a tune again?
