    Question Help: 2nd accumulator springs

    Between my vette servo and hd-2 kit, the 1-2 shift knocks your teeth out at WOT, even with NO spacers installed. So I pulled the pan to set the accumulator back to stock, until i realized i forgot what it originally looked like.

    I have the original and transgo springs, I want to either set it back to original, or set it up to be a little softer if anyone has a 2nd opinion on the arrangement. I'm just really hoping someone remembers how they are factory.

    I know the piston is flipped back over to be factory, I have the blue and orange springs that are installed per transgo instructions, plus another spring that is the same strength as the blue one but about twice as long(no color left). I have all the original springs, but the others I believe are from 4th accumulator, etc.

    Yup Yup kind of hard on the teeth and trany.
    I had about the same results 1st try with shift kit and new servos.
    If you have a tune, retune it back to stock line pressure.
    Call up FLT and ask for help, they know what to do. They got my trany shifting good and I still have my teeth.

    Yeah I was surprised it was so firm since my tune is for stock pressure. Chirping the tires at any shift over 25mph gets old after like a week, not to mention makes for fun on rainy days. I posted around and think I found enough help now, making calls was gonna be the next attempt. Thanks for the reply.

    Sounds like you drilled out the feedhole too large for the 1-2 upshift or your accumulator is stuck.

    You wouldn't by chance happen to have any SES codes showing up, would you? High temp coolant or bad TPS will make shifts slam.

    I had to peen my drilled too big hole 1-2 shift back to stock size.
    Used a rounded pointed punch then redrilled the hole to .073".
    Did the same to the 2-3 shift hole to .088".
    Used original springs for the 2nd acc. and put the 2nd Accumulator piston back the stock direction--tabs into the accumulator.
    Put the stock spring in the Accum. Bushing & valve.
    Turned the adjustment 1/8 turn counter clockwise to lower line pressure on the electric thingy.
    This is what FLT recomended because



    I think that the stock TC is more apt to shift hard than higher stall ones [but I am guessing not having a bigger stall ].

    I had no SES light, but I guess theres a number of things to look at, like stated. I put the stock springs back in but didn't bother flipping the accumulator piston back to stock. I just want to dull it down enough to get rid of the tire chirp, and i'm hoping this was enough. Hit Man, I hope your not right, but I sort of think that I either left the feed hole alone or used a smaller bit than recommended, I was trying to originally set it up conservatively. I'll find out in a couple of weeks how it goes, I'll be referring back to all these things If I have to crack it back open. Highly appreciated guys.
