well we tore the motor down tonight and decided to take the intake and heads off as i have no idea what the motor looks like internally. and we swapped out the cam which was TO easy! i was expecting way worse. but i guess when its just a block its simple. the crank pulley was a B****. i Need suggestions though... the top of the pitons are a bit charred and theres some smally debris sitting on them. and has anyone ever had heads acid dipped? i think im leaning that way right now. I just want it done once and done right. the motor only has 54k on it but its an 2002. OPEN FOR SUGGESTIONS! thanks all ill try and get some pics up tomorrow!

Fuel deposits on top of the pistons is normal. If you want to clean it off I would run the piston up to the top and then smear grease around where the piston meets the cylinder, to prevent garbage from getting down there. After that you can get a wire brush for your drill or dremel and clean the piston top. Protect all the other piston bores from flying debris when cleaning with the wire brush. Once your done cleaning, remove as much grease as possible from the piston top and move on to the next one.

I wouldn't touch the heads with that low of mileage. Spray them down with carb cleaner and call it good. Get them resurfaced just because you removed them. That usually takes about .005" off of them.

automotive machine shop, they shave a minimal amount off the mating surface of the head to ensure it seals properly.
