info and options to retunine computer

hey everyone got a qeustion i know everyone here would know best. i have an 02 avalanche 4wd with stock 5.3. i found a brand new LQ-9 6.0 complete for sale want to drop it in but i've heard mix reviews as to what i have in store for me any help will be very helpful. my main concerns is the computer retune and if anyone knows a shop near or on long island.also any way to remedy the stock cable throttle body the new one is computer driving.

Swap out long block for long block. All the parts are interchangable. Use your existing intake manifold and throttle body. You'll need tuning still. There are a lot of tuners in your area, check out the sponsors over on LS1Tech.com or PT.net and you may find a tuner up there. Also, Tbyrne, one of our site sponsors, is in your area and may be able to point you to a tuner close to you.

TByrne is out of business unfortunately. A stock LQ9 tune would be very easy for someone to copy into your tune (should just require some tables to be copied over...MAF, VE, cylinder size, idle airflow, timing, etc). That's something that a decent mail order tuner should be able to do pretty easily. As stated above, just use your old accessories (including intake manifold and throttle body) so you don't need to screw with converting from cable TB to DBW.

LS1GTO.com Forums - T Byrne Are They Still In Business?

Everybody is questioning about T Byrne and whether we are still in business anymore and to officially answer your question we are not. As many of you may know I do not usually post on the forums but after recieving emails from some friends in the business I felt compelled to post for two reasons. I will honestly not be back on the board after this.

I first want to apologize to anyone effected by our recent closure. There were a hand few of customers that were effected by the abrupt closer and I am truly sorry. Second, If Tom was out to intentionally "screw people" there were alot of backorder orders that could have been charged when we closed that were not. Not that this makes it any better for the customers that were affected but I had to make that point. What happened was unfortunate but I assure you it was not done maliciously. Sometimes things happen in life that cause us to make some difficult choices, I'm sure for him this was one of them.

I enjoyed the 11 years I was at T Byrne and have met and worked with some outstanding people. I made some friendships that will hopefully continue.
