So how hard is it to weld the headers to the y pipe. Or is it easier to half a exhaust shop install them?

IMO, have a 3-bolt flange welded to the collectors of the headers and at the front of the y-pipe. They bolt up nicely and can be eaily removed--compared to the slip joints with band clamps. I can't tell you how many times I've tried disconnecting the y-pipe from the headers and it doesn't wanna go... I did my headers and y-pipe with the 3-hole flanges and the connect/disconnect is so simple!

Do you have to cut any off the headers or y pipe or just weld the 3-hole flanges on. Where can you get that done at? Thanks

Only a slight bit was cut off the end to have the 3-bolt flanges welded on. Your local exhaust shop can do it. It will take the welder guy a little while to get it done, but it is worth the wait. Oh, make sure to get some copper gaskets for where the 3-bolt flanges bolt up... You will need to order four (4) 3-bolt flanges and 2 copper gaskets...

Okay where can you order the 3-bolt flanges and copper gaskets? Thanks again. So did the exhaust shop do your all the install? What kinda of cost did you have?

You can buy a 3 bolt collector flange, same one that would go to the pipe side. There are soft aluminum gaskets available, also, instead of just copper.

I got my flanges at Verocious Motorsports. Most exhaust shops will charge differently for each job. The shop I went to here in Fort Worth charged me $10 per weld and they did a great job. You also should go to Home Depot and buy the correct sized bolts, lock washers, and nuts for the flanges. When you go buy them, try and get Stainless Steel stuff. Bring the flanges up to Home Depot with you so you know the exact size to get when you buy them...

If not shorty headers would be just fine, they are direct replacement, they do add some power to stockish vehicles, and they are pain free to install. I've got edelbrock ceramic shorties on my truck and they are great, however i will be changing to a long tube b/c of all the mods i've done to my engine and longtubes would compliment the mods more. IMO if your not getting into the engine there is no need for longtubes. Either way you'll be happy with adding headers. Good luck and get coated headers no matter what
Its a good idea to put high heat resistant plug wires on, i went with accel 9000 and they are pretty low resistance as well
