    Wierd water noise ?

This question has been eating my brain for a few weeks now. When i drive i hear water slushing around. for example if you take a water bottle fill it up half way and shake it you hear that sound. well i hear that when i take off, it comes from the glove box area. i check for leaks and i don't see anything. i hear it when the heater is on. or defroster. sometimes i will hear a noise that is unexplainable. it sounds like little pieces of rock in a plastic bag. it will sometimes make a smell of coal. once a little piece of coal fell when i heard that noise. i looked up there and couldn't find anything. Does any one have any idea what this is?

its really annoying driving around sounding like your driving with water in your truck.

i hear both noises mostly when i am taking off.

dude.. Check your coolant level... and check your oil for coolant. When you check it it should read higher than normal. My wifes 4.3 did this. Its the intake manifold gasket. Or the head gasket. Ill put money on it being either the intake manifold gasket or similar. Also check to see if water comes out of the exhaust. It will only get worse. until you float the bearings.
    sorry bout this.

You're either low on coolant or you have a blockage in one of the heater core hoses or the control valve that allows hot engine water to enter the cabin/heater core has failed.

Heater Core. As much as I would hate to say it, but you should probably remove it and flush all of the coolant lines leading to it and from it. Hell, since hoses are cheap, you should just replace them. One of my ex G/F from like 3 years ago had a 98 Z71 that did the same thing...she also described it to me as a half empty water bottle sloshing around--and it only happened when she made jerky movements--starting; stopping; sharp turns; etc. I ended up tearing half the dash apart to get to that SOB...I cleaned and flushed everything out. No more sloshy!
I am not saying just a good flush will solve your problem. A new HC maybe needed--or the coolant door switch that Greg is talking about. More than likey, the slushing sound is due to the residual coolant that is left in the HC. I would guess that your lines are clogged...

Ricky, that was happening not to long ago to my truck. It was annoying the **** out of me. I would purposely stop then go then stop then go. Then the next day the coolant light came on, filled it up, and it was fine. So I assume it was that because I have not had a problem since.

i checked for coolant in my oil, the oil looked fine. it wasn't milky at all. i didn't fill the coolant in my reservoir when i did the flush a last month when i did the water pump swap. i will fill that thing up, maybe it should go away.

thanks to everyone who posted up

-jeff, i hope its not that bad the truck only has 57xxx miles on it.
