What you should worry about is if its a gen3 engine or not. Yes, it is. The LS1, LS2, LS6, 4.8L, 5.3L and 6.0L engines are all gen3 engines. Most of the parts are interchangable between each of the engines. The gen3 engines are like all the older small block chevy engines we're used to, interchangable parts. For what you're planning on doing, I'd buy a 6.2L aluminum block and stroke it so you have a bigger engine in the long run. SDPARTS.COM builds some stroker 6.2L engines and they're nice. The nice thing about the 6.2L engine is the weight savings.

If its an LS2 intake, it should have a 90mm TB.

The LS1 is a bad candidate for a 427 unless you want to pay a fortune for Darton dry sleeve. It can be done but its not worth it IMO. The LS1 is a nice base engine. Pass on it and focus on something more worthy like the LS3/L76/L92 block.

ok cool i trust youre opinion .but if i can get agood deal on that intake and tb i should get it right .?as u know im seriously considering a new 90 mm setup.or will it not work on my truck setup.at least the tb.a 90 mil is a 90 mil correct?as long as it will bolt onto a newr intake.

Yeah, I'd definitely make him an offer on the intake and TB. Even buy the whole thing and sell off what you don't use.

Definitely buy it for $400 and sell the 5.7L. I agree with Red, hold out for a LS3, L76, L92. I personally went the LQ9 route, that is an option for you as well but sounds like you want the weight savings. RC

Yeah, since you already have a sweet LQ4, keep it. Buy the LS1 for cheap and take off the intake and accessories... Then sell the LS1 and make some extra cash...
