transmissioncenter.net says the stock 80e is really only good to 400hp and I've clearly exceeded that. Time to beef it up some I guess. Do I beef up the HP robbing 80e or the light weight 60e? Talk about confused!

First bit of good news is I called Street and Performance and told them about their idler assembly failing and they said not to worry, a new set will be in the mail tomorrow! Have I said lately how much I like their customer service?

I also ordered an ATSG manual and GM training CD on rebuilding the 80e. I'll check those out and then decide if I want to tackle the rebuild of the 80e or source out the rebuild work. For what it will cost for a rebuild I can buy all the tools to do it myself forever. Labor was quoted at $400 for a stock rebuild and higher if he installs the HD2 Transgo shift kit. Its supposed to be a pretty involved process to mod the 80e.

$400 plus parts. I've built about 6 or more 60e trannies. Not an real issue to do the Transgo kits.

Good work with the intake Red. Any chance you could get a hold of a 100mm TB and see what that you do for ya? And yes, I have also heard doing a shift kit on an 80e is quite harder than on a 60,65,70e. But I am sure once you put it on the table, you could easily rebuild that "sandwich" looking thing...

Great news, the Street and Performance idler assembly arrived today. What can I say, not only do they have good looking parts but they also stand behind them.
