    v6 to v8 need help please

    heres my problem i got a 4.3L v6 on a 99 silverado. i brought a 5.3L v8 (junk yard it was a stolen truck insurance job)i got it complete with engine harnes and computer. i try to start it and it starts but dies immediately. and the only way it will stay on is with starting fluid. so they told me it was the computer so i went and brought another computer(junk yard) and it did the same thing. so i need some help thanks

    VATS is stopping you I bet. Get Nelson Performance to tune it and all will be better!

    VATS ! . . . get it tuned ! . .. . and put down the starter fluid !!!!!!

    MOMENTARY & PERMANENT IMMOBILIZER BYPASS SOLUTIONS FROM:
    I'm questioning this because I just swapped engines I have a 1997 Step Side 4.3 changed it to 5.7 out of a 1999 Tahoe. I'm having the same issue, it cracks up and shuts right down. A guy I that I work with use to work for a auto alarm installation company sent this link to me.

    that would only work if you tested the vehicle that to new pcm came from. Otherwise you're still just putting in the sae resistance that the key would, which is for the old pcm

    During Swap

    When I took the engine & transmission from the Tahoe I pull & plugged the entire wiring harness & computer from under the hood. Dropped it into the 1997 P/U! Should pulling the steering column from the Tahoe and intall into the P/U help any? I still have the Tahoe! Is there anything that I can pull would help?

    You're going to want a tune in the future, anyhow, so just break out the credit card and order the NelsonPerformance tune and have him disable VATS.

    is their a way to do it but the cheap way

    Call nelsonperformance and ask for a 1-time tune, I think its called a hotrod or streetrod tune. It does not come with lifetime updates but I think you can upgrade at a later date. Tell him what mods you've done and that you want the VATS disabled.
