Has anyone ever wired up the cruise control from their 73-87 Chevy Truck to work with the LT-1 or LS-1 engines. I have a 1981 Blazer that doesn't currently have cruise control installed.

I do have a Vaccuum Style Cruise Control set-up from a 1982 Blazer with ESC system. If the vaccuum controlled system is easier to wire up the electronic system, then this is what I will do.

ANyone have any experience with this?

Or does anyone have any experience installing an LT-1 or LS-1 in a 73-87 Chevy Truck? Got any pics of the final product?

I have the S&P articles saved on my computer now, and there a decent start.

I have the 2002 Camaro setup on my LS1. It was not too difficult to set up just a bit of wiring. I had to change the switch on the turn stalk to the 4 wire switch (my vaccuum setup had 3 wires). My truck already had cruise so it had all the brake switches already in place. I can get pics but there isn't much to look at, just a box with a throttle cable and some wires pluged into it.

What all modifications had to be done to the frame on your Truck to install the LS-1? Did you notch the frame to use the stock compressor location?

What other tips or suggestions do you have for me on this swap?

Thanks for your help!

I did modify the mount some and grind a bit off the frame around the clutch area, but the compressor fits inside the frame. I added some steel to the parts I cut to make them stronger. Get some fuel tanks from a 1987 truck (they have the fuel pump in the tank) and upgrade the pump. I think most of the guys are using the Corvette type fuel filter with the internal regulator. Use the stock radiator with Camaro fans. The passenger side Exhaust manafold will need to be modifyed if you use the f-body manafold. Nelson Performance sells the wiring harness. Allen can also tune and remove VATS and other unused bits from the ECM.

heres what i did, home made bracket

retains facotry a/c

but the dam cruise doesnt work. i was getting power out of the cruise control switch (on/off, resume, accel) when i powered up the pink wire, but for some reason it no longer puts out.. whore. so i will have to buy a new or find a used turn signal switch.
basically the wiring on the cruse servo is 9 wires:
power, ground
3 wires from the cruise switch (mentioned above)
+ when brake is applied
TCC signal (power normally, open when brake is applied)
VSS signal (from pcm green/white i believe)
Cruise Enable signal (from pcm)

i dont know what cruise enable is, but i hooked it up anyway. like i said i havent gotten mine to work after the switch crapped out on me.
what i would do is go to the local pick and pull, snag the factory wiring harness, its a seperate harness from the body. its goes from: middle of steering column by the mount, then it has a vacume line, brake wire, tcc wire then it goes towards the firewall, and then the ground wire comes from the left side (ground junction box), power wire from the fuse box, then goes through the firewall/grommet and yeah, just grab that 5-10 bucks and your almost there.

I think the 83 up had the 4 wire switch.
