My old man has a 2000 GMC 2500 with a 6.0, completely stock other than a Flowmaster cat-back exhaust. It has just over 61000 miles on it. Runs good (as well as a stock truck can run) once you get it started, but thats the problem as the title states. Sometimes it will fire right up as if it was right off the assembly line, but most of the time it cranks over several times before firing off. You'd almost think it was carbureted.
We have changed plugs, wires, fuel filter, ran cleaner through the gas and yesterday we put in a new fuel pump only to find the same problem. I have checked the plug and wire connections multiple times; tried with and without the air filter in place. I cannot find anything consistent, the weather, engine being warmed up or the first start of the day. It varies from start to start.
I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem or has any suggestions before we try anything else.
