dam thats a hell of a deal, i was going to tell you about a freind of mine in dallas that has some 5.3L HO flat top pistons and rods, a whole set brand new with rods for like 300 bucks, but a whole engine for 575 is a steal.

I bought some seafoam to put in my gas tank, and i was going to do the intake also, what exactly happen to your truck with the seafoam to bent a rod??

Well for starters, I was allowing the seafoam to go in through the Brake vacuum booster line, I have done this many times before, well This time it starts knocking so I quit. I only had maybe 2-3 OZ. at most in the engine when it started. I can only guess it puddled somewhere and went into the #8 cylinder all at once and slightly hydro locked just enough to slightly bend the rod to where the crankshaft counter weight was just taping the bottom of the piston at the pin boss.

I have a friend who deals with a major salvage yard in the area, and he does so much business with them, he got me this hook up, it went on the wrong truck today, so I have not got it yet, I hope tonight or tomorrow morning. I just want to to be done with.

I am keeping the old engine and replacing the piston and rod assy and putting it back together and plastic wrapping it for future use.

I would just put the seafoam in the tank and that is it in the future, never again will I do the intake again!

dam that sucks, were you pouring it in the hose, or using a piece of rubber line or something and sucking it in from the can?

Im gonna put it in the tank for sure. I put it in the tank and also sucked it in thru a vac line on my old car, and the inside of the intake looked like it was brand new afterwards. Lots of smoke while it was going in, but cleared up about 5 minutes after i restarted it.

Thanks for the info, and good luck with the new engine.

I was using a vacuum line and allowing it to suck into the line.

Well after 575 bucks for the engine, 25 bucks for the oil and filter, it is ALIVE!

Got the engine at about 330 pm Friday afternoon, took it to the place I am doing the swap and got it on the engine stand and took the oil pan off and inspected everything as a visual can, and put the chain on it and got ready for the install on Saturday morning.

I arrived Saturday morning at 8:10 am and got started on it, stabbed the engine in and had it ready to go by 1:20 pm, delivered it to the wife by 2 pm and all is well.

Now just going to order the parts needed for the other engine, and fix it and save it for something in the future!

I cannot figure how to close this, I am not in need of this now, and will probably buy new.

Could a MOD close this thread?
