Hey yall. Getting ready to do an electric fan swap on to the truck. We are getting a single 14" fan from summit called the Del something or other. How should I go about hooking this up? I'm thinking about ordering the painless wiring kit that replaces the stock thermostat and turns the fan on automatically. What do yall think? I really don't want to have to deal with another switch (got 4 in the truck as it is). Any other way I should try and hook it up? Thanks yall.

Run down to the local AutoZone and buy the electric fan temp control module. It's about 50 bucks with relay and everything included. This module allows you to control the "on" and "off" without having to get your ECM reprogrammed to change the temp. This is really handy for winter vs. summer driving. In the winter you can have it a bit higher and in the summer or for performance you can change it to super cool with just the twist of a knob.

Well, I just placed the order with summit for a 16", 2,175cfm Derale electric fan with the adjustable temperature sensor and the air conditiong relay. Cost about $160 shipped. Should be here next week sometime. I'll let yall know how it goes. Thanks for the help.

WHEW $160 for an Efan.....dang thats alot....
I have seen Efans from a Ford Taurus with the 3.8L motor cool pretty big motors. They're dual speed, and pull something like 3500cfm or something like that....The ones from the Lincoln Mark VIII's are 18" fans and pull upwards of 5000 CFM.....However there is a pretty big draw there something like 35 amps at fan start and like 12 amps continuous....I measured it once, and have since forgotten.
I'll grab a part number for the AutoZone module that I have used on my S10 from AutoZone.....you might want to get another relay though as I am not sure how much power the t-stat module can hold. I know it will hold LOW on a Taurus fan just fine, but haven't tried high yet (don't need it)

I put a late model camaro dual fan assembly on my radiator. I wired the thing into my LT1 conversion using the factory PCM wiring and two relays. This thing could put a chill on an ice cube. Sitting in August stop and go traffic with 110 degrees outside temp and the engine never got over 200 degrees.

The $160 included the fan ($110), temperature controller, and AC relay, plus shipping. I'd love to wire it in to the PCM, but I just can't afford the down time right now and I don't know of anyone in the college station/houston area that can tune the PCM.
