    New guy from Texas

Hey guys I am new to the site, I have a 1999 Sierra with a 5.3. I am currently working on my master degree so I don't have much money, but the money I can save up I am going to drop in a 408. I don't feel there is any reason to mess around with a motor that has 80K on it, but it has been taken care of and I have all the records (ie. oil changes, transmission change, all recalls, and the original window sticker) to go along with the truck.

    Welcome

Just get a forged 370 and you'll be pleased and save a lot of money. The 408 is over-rated. Now a 402 stroked aluminum block gets my attention. The new L92 aluminum block stroked to 4" and honed out for new forged pistons would be nice, too. I think SDParts.com sells them for a very good price. Billy at TRTTurbo can get you a pretty good price on a forged 370.

Hey man! Good to have you! Where in Texas are you? What are you getting your masters in? Where do you go to school? Yeah, it is tough to mod your truck while in grad school...unless you are independently wealthy! Any mods as of yet? Or is it still stock? Don't feel scared to mod it now--80K is nothing for a 5.3L. If you have truely taken good care of it, modding it now would be no problem!

Well the truck looks a little bit different than whats in the pictures. A thief decided to break the passenger front glass and steal some stuff, luckily I recovered everything that was important except my business cards that I have collected throughout the years from people I have met all over the US. They didn't take my radar detector or stereo, we figure they were just looking for some quick cash. Sadly some of the money ($600) I had saved up will be put towards fixing the hole in the outside of the door (done with a pair of channel locks) and the window the thief broke.

Txarkitekt I am currently in Nacogdoches getting my Masters of Public Administration with a Minor in Law Enforcement at SFA.

Damn, sorry to hear about the truck..can't have anything nice these days cause some jackass thinks it would be a better idea if they had it! Congrats with your studies! I have been out to Naca-no-where a few times before and it was crazy! You kids really know how to party balls! How much longer do you have out there? Where do you plan on livinig/working once you are finished?
