Thanks for the info, thats why i like this site so much, everyone knows something and its a big help because you cant rely on everything else you read on the internet to be accurate.

Yeah i have 3.73 gears, what brand does everyone like for cams? i was looking into a comp cams package, where it includes everything the rods, ect. If i go with one of those cams, will the super cold weather hurt anything on the motor? i have piston slap now when its cold, but the truck has always done that, i go to school in Minnesota so it gets to be like -20 out for a month or so i hate that part, but once the truck gets warmed up it performs like it always does.

    thanks for the help.

Awesome--3.73's are a good setup. You also have the stock Eaton LSD in the rear. It's ok, but once you start putting some real power behind it, it will eventually go... Not trying to scare you, just trying to help alleviate some concerns...I have heard good things from Vinci (which is essentially a Crane cam), but I like Comp as well. I am currently running Comp stuff... If you want to do a Comp cam package, you might be interested in a HR269-XER. that would do extremely well in your truck. But I would be a little hesitant to do Comp's 918 valve springs...You might try some LS6 onces instead. No real need to get PRC's... Your truck loves cold air!!!! It runs wayyyyyy better when it is sucking in cold air than warm air... The motor gets more power due to the correct atomization of the air and fuel mixture when the air is colder--and more dense. That piston/valve slap you speak of only really happens with our motors up there where it is cold--it almost sounds like a diesel at initial start-up... It's not really hurting anything, so I really wouldn't worry about it. If you've got any other questions, we'd be more than happy to help out!
