    LS1 Heads on 5.3

I got a chance to buy a set LS1 heads off of a 97 Vette, the heads are stock and have around 60k on them. Is it worth it for 200 bucks, or will it hurt my truck. I guess what kind of improvements will I see in the long run?

Unless you want to spend the money to have them milled then yes they would hurt your performance.....I believe the LS1 heads CC's are around 64.? and the 4.8 & 5.3's are 61.? so you would be losing some compression....plus I have read that the LS1 heads weren't all that great... now if you can get a set of LS6's and have them milled then IMO it would be worth it.

97-98 heads are worthless. Spend your money elsewhere. To use them you'll also have to buy perimeter style valve covers. $200 is too much for the older heads, you can buy 243 casting LS6 heads for just a little more these days plus you'll be able to reuse your valve covers.
