    TQ converter?

I am helping a friend put a 2001 5.3 in a 1995 sub. I know that you need a flywheel spacer, but can you just run a converter from a the truck that the 5.3 came from? and not run a spacer?

Yeah, if you run the 4l60e from the truck the 5.3 came from also. The new style convertor will not work with the old style transmission.

Is it because of the difference in lock up clutches? or is there a physical difference? My buddy thinks he can run any year converter in his trans after he puts some kind of tcc kit in it that makes it an on and off like the old style instead of PWM like the new style.

Need a new style 300mm input shaft and drum, new pump, new stator, new convertor. Gotta switch all the old parts from the old trans out with the new stuff. By then he might as well just buy a complete transmission. I've done it, it's nothing but time and money. Luckily mine was converting a 2002 4L60e from a V6 over to LS1 style, all parts were in like new condition.

Can you swap all that stuff in to the old trans? I know someone that has a new style trans that was in a wreck and has a broken tail housing (on the trans case) and I can get it for nothing.
