Does anyone know what the correct backspacing is for 22" X 9.5" wheels? I see them listed with like 40mm and 12mm? I don't understand that stuff.
This would be on an 07 NNBS Tahoe, which I would think is the same as all the 99 & up NBS?
TIA,
S.C.

Backspacing is just how much the wheel will protrude outwards from where the center of the wheel bolts up to the lugs. The more backspacing you have, the more the wheel sticks out to the edge of the fender wells. If you want a wheel that pushes out to be flush with the fender, you need more backspacing.
When you see vehicles where the wheels are tucked inside the wheel wells, they have little to no backspacing---wheels that protrude outwards have a lot of backspacing.
There is not set backspacing for every wheel size. Each wheel manufacturer sets their own backspacing limits. Actually, some wheels can have several different backspacing limits--it just depends upon what look you are going for...

I don't want them to stick out past the fenders.

Some measure backspace from the inside of the wheel to the locating flange of the wheel center. Others measure from the centerline of the wheel to the flange.
3.5" BS made my wheels stick way out
Cant remember the BS on the Vette wheels but it was metric and calculated from the centerline + the backspacing amount. A plus amount made the wheels tuck further and a minus amount made them hang out further if I remember correctly. Damn MM metric crap!

Well, do the conversion from mm to inches... 40mm=1.6" and 12 mm=.5" Go out to your truck and measure how far the front plane of your wheel (were the lugs are) to the outside of the fender. Then make sure that you stay within that limit...

1" = 25.4mm. If this helps. I was told from where the wheel hits the drum or disc is where you start the measurement and go back?

SC--the 40mm backspacing will look good. If it doesn't stick out as far as you'd like, go buy some good quality wheel spacers...
