Salvage yards. I've turned down complete LS1s with T56s for $1600 in DFW. I know, I could buy the combo and sell the T56 for the $1600 and have a free engine but I'm not a salesman, I'm a hotrodder!

Can't remember seeing any big salvage yards in my trips to Maine but I'm sure they are there. Basically look for a large auto recycler. They tend to give a warranty with their parts, have better organized systems and more parts available.
I found my donor drivetrain via eBay.. I found a large recycler yard selling high end LSx parts (roller corvettes, drivetrains etc.) They were 1 hr away and had plenty of Truck, f-body and gtp parts). I gave them a call and worked through my details and purchase of things not even listed.
