Pretty much the same tranny, 97 had 4L60E, I think they have changed to 4L65E same tranny with supposed improvements. Had old 350 motor with the vortec fuel system. They used this system for three years in the 1/2 ton trucks, a couple more years in the bigger trucks and G series van.
