Ok guys, gettin close to orderin' time for my parts for this build, I wanted to run it by the gurus and see if there are any obvious things I'm not accounting for.

Truck is a 99 S10, 4-banger five speed. Engine is an LQ4, not ordered yet but should be out of a 2001-2004 Silverado HD. Keep in mind, said motor will NOT have any fuel injection pieces outside of the manifold itself. Transmission is a T56 from a 93 LT1 Camaro. Engine will be carbureted at first, as I have the carb manifold and carb laying around, collecting dust. Plans are to upgrade to the F.A.S.T. fuel injection, though funds will likely prohibit this for at least another year. MSD 6LS to talk to the factory coil packs should handle the ignition in the meantime.

Being that the trans is originally out of an LT1-equipped vehicle, I assume I must convert it over to LS1 duty. I know I have to change the bellhousing, which is fortunate because the one I have is cracked. I also believe I have to swap out the input shaft for an LS1 unit. Hopin to finish it all off with a Centerforce clutch. Anything else that should have to be converted? Tailshaft, etc?

After that, I have an aluminum driveshaft from a first Gen Lightning that I plan on having modified to hook up the T56 to my rearend, the stock 10-bolt which will be completely gone through, Posi'd, and upgraded to 4.56 rear gears from Richmond and axles from Strange.

And thats about it, throwing some Corvette brakes on the front, coilovers from Koni to hold up the front end and a 4 link with coil overs in the rear to aid traction. I plan on driving the everloving fool out of this truck, and I think the 4 link, along with the transmission, will allow for good handling, decent launches, and decent fuel mileage while not overworkin the engine on the Interstate. Fuel cell in the bed to delete the factory tank (more room for the 4 link) as well as a bed-mounted battery.

There you have it guys, my project in a nutshell. Please give it once over if you don't mind, I feel like I've got everything thought out (this is just a summary of course, I didn't bother to list all the nickel and dime stuff). However, I have seen many run into year-specific problems (this year engine won't mate with that year tranny, input shaft too long, etc). As this is my first build, I am trying to avoid that. Wow, this post has gone way too long. Let me know what you guys think!
