Horse power = heat new engines make more power per cube which = higher oil temps regardless of coolant temp. oil temp is effected buy coolant temp but its not as much as older engines and not as much as people think. Ihave a '66 chevy with a 383 stroker with 160 stat and the coolant temp runs at 175 to 185. before I had an oul cooler the oil temp would get up to 250 now with a cooler it sets around 200 to 215 depends on how har I beat on it.
