The 5.3 cast iron block can be bored out to the same size as the 5.7L. There is also a 5.3L aluminum engine out there but they cannot be bored more than +.010" oversize, all aluminum blocks have this restriction. The newer L92/LS3 6.2L engines are based on the same platform as all the previous engines but have a crankshaft position wheel with 58 tooth reluctor wheel vs. the earlier 24 tooth wheel. The LS2 engine is the same as all the others mentioned and it is aluminum and early models had the 24t wheel and the late models have 58 teeth. Reluctor wheels can be changed to match your setup as required but have to be located accurately to work right.

All accessories will interchange from one engine to another in the Gen3/Gen4 platform. Gen4 are the latest engines with displacement on demand and cam timing phasers. Later engines have one bolt holding the camshaft sprocket while the earlier models have three bolts holding it on. Later engines have the knock sensors on the driver side of the block by the oil pan, earlier models had the sensors in the valley area under the intake. Early model cam sensors where in the rear of the valley area back by the firewall, newer engines have the sensor in the front cam cover and requires a special timing device on the cam sprocket....

I could go on forever.

Im in AZ too!!!! What part of the state are you in? Im in Mesa, and Im starting to gather parts for my swap to a 6.0 and will for sure need some help when I am ready to do the swap. We were supposed to have a lil GTG of all the AZ guys...still in the planning stages.

Oh yeah I almost forgot.... Welcome to the site!!! You have any pics of the truck?
