Thread: idle issues for stopping?

    can any one tell me exactly how to set my idle on the hp tuner i think i need to go down alittle my truck doesnt want to stop as well as before the tune .its not allens fault i just keep forgetting too ask everytime i talk to him .i just got the hp and im a total novice so please be specific.its idling high in gear or park .i dont have a big cam just a small 240/ 538 114 lsa or so not exactly sure card isnt infront of me.id appreciate any help ,thank you.
    mods:2004 sierra ext sb,20s ,big brake kit w,hawk pads,air bagged,2006 6.0 lq4 swap,vortec supercharged10psi, air to water intercooled w/ dual electric fans on it ,snow meth injection kit,60lbers, e-fans ,big radiator swap ,cam 218 /222 548/550 comp .hardened prs .1.85 comp roller rockers ,guideplates ,crane double springs,trans 4l65e built .pacesetter l/ts true duals w/x pipe and magnaflows,14 bolt rearend swap ,3.73s,aroemotive fuel pump system w/elec.fuel controller and bypass regulator a/n fittings, taylor 10.5s interceptor gauge,aem w/b a/f ,autometer boost/vac NELSON 93 OCTANE TUNED .

    if you have a cable drive throttle you can fix it by adjusting the throttle stop out a little bit. You probably have a pretty high Idle Air Control count right now. If you have Drive By Wire then you'll need to get Allen to tune that up for you.

    i do have dbw but we are communicating w the hp i bought from him.i just thought someone here could easily tell me how to set idle without bothering allen.i see alot of people doing there settings on here w exp on the hp .i thought if allen could do it w the hp why not other hp users ya know?

    Depends, is your PCM locked? Can you flash tunes to it? I thought I read somewhere that he is sending you PCMs still. If he has to send you a PCM, chances are that you have a locked PCM at this time and you won't be able to make changes to it, only log driving cycles. If you want to start tuning it yourself you'll have to get an unlocked PCM. Allen has to send locked PCMs to protect himself from accusations of bad tunes when amatuers make changes to his tune and burn their engines up. If you don't know what you're doing it is easy to burn one up. You can also toast your transmission if you make some bad settings.

    as far as i know he sent me a unlocked pcm ,thats what he said when he sent the hp and new tune

    oh ya red i did find out that my truck pcm is unlocked .so if you could help me lower the idle a little it would help me .i did since then install ss brakes and hp pads ,that holds but i dony want too relly on that .and have premature brake wear.

    just look under the Idle tab in Engine General, everything you need is in that area..
