Thread: rearend 3:23 to 3:73

    i have a friend who has a 373 rearend told me i can have it if i go pick it up ( great friend) anyway it has drum breaks on it, mine has disc, i hadnt looked at it but couldnt i just change the axels out to keep it disc?


    p.s. or just change the differientials
    Simple: 408 on steroids!

    just change the ring and pinion.

    I concur. Pull the gears and swap them. If it has a posi and you don&#39;t, grab it to go with the gears.

    easy enough i just picked up the whole damn rearend lol ....

    my truck isnt posi has 323 gears the one i picked up has 373 posi didnt realize i could just swap out the gears and such ...
    Simple: 408 on steroids!

    Getting the pinion depth is very important or you will destroy the gears. If you&#39;ve never done it, pay a pro to do the install - or someone that knows what they&#39;re doing.

    there is a guy in houston that installs gears and has been highly recommended on another board. u can ask wheatley who he uses cuz ive heard numerous people say awesome things about the quality of install and pricing.

    Thats what Im going to have to do once I get my 6.0 in. Im not gonna really haul ass with the 323 though lol..dont wanna destroy nothing

    agreed same here. i wont take the truck to the track before i get my posi with 373&#39;s. i think im going to stick with drum brakes to save some &#036;&#036;&#036;.
