Will a TCI 3000 Stall make my gas mileage go down significantly? Also. I pull my boat about 3 or 4 days a week, will that have any affect of my towing capacity? Let me know guys. I have a good deal in front of me!

If you do a lot of city driving the fuel mileage will suffer. The convertor will handle the boat fine, just add a cooler inline to keep the tranny temps in control. The convertor will sure make pulling the boat a pleasure when you accelerate since you'll get to your power range quickly.

Ive called tranny shops and the cheapest install is around 500. Is that high for an AWD truck? IS it something I could do myself? I have all necessary equip and i'm kinda familiar with everything.

Oh yeah, you should be able to handle that if you have the time. Give yourself about 8 hours and you should have it done. You probably can talk someone that needs a V8 in his V6 truck into helping you do the work.

Just be sure when you install the convertor that it locks over the drive tangs in the front pump of the transmission, you may have to turn the convertor by hand a few times to find the pump drive lugs. If you go to install the transmission and the housing doesnt contact the engine before the convertor, you may not have the convertor in all the way. You should not have to draw the transmission onto the engine, it should go up there by hand.

Be sure you pour one quart of transmission fluid in the convertor before installation.

Hell, even handing wrenches to him to keep him from having to crawl out from under the truck 40 times will be a great help. Plus, somebody has to buy lunch.

You dont have to pour a quart of fluid back in. I was talking to my techs and they said if it s a brand new one yes, but there is no way you can completely drain a torque converter. You would either have to drill a hole in it or some of them have a drain plug. So go ahead and get the bolts in and starter back on.
