i ran 4:11s with my 80e and it was great, even for a DD, remember the 80 e and 60e have the same overdrive gear ratio so nothing will change on the highway, also i liked the 80 much better because 1st shifted out at 49 2nd shifted at 91 and 3rd shifted at 152, never found out how high OD would go this AWD trans will be getting an 80 when it gives up the ghost.

Im pretty sure the 80 has a .75 OD and the 60 has a .70 OD so not much difference probably 100-200rpm at highway speeds.

I wouldn't worry to much about the gear ratio difference.

Currently I have 3.42's and 29" tires and it seems this combination isn't very desirable with a 4L80E, my truck will mainly be used for just having fun on the streets and the occasional drag strip run. I will also be taking it on the highway since it'll be my DD till I can pick up something else for a DD, so what gears would y'all recommend? I was thinking probably 3.90's but I'm not certain.

Future mods include a Vinci Trucker cam and a Yank 3200 and wayyyy on down the road probably a turbo.

Or would y'all just recommend that I rebuild my 4L60E?

    Thanks in advance fellas
I run a 30" tire with USA standard gear 4.10's and a True Trac from Ron's and I love it. Highway mileage did not change a measurable amount and in town mileage increased. I am starting my 80e swap within the month with a 258mm Circle D 3600. Why not just do the converter now to not hassle with changing it out later? Even stock engines benefit greatly from a stall.

60e is 0.696 OD and the 80e is 0.75 OD. So if you're at 2,088 cruising at 65mph with the 80e you will be at 2,250 rpm's.

guess, i never noticed to rpm change but 150rpms at speed isnt that big of a change to worry about.

Mainly because I'm a broke college kid who needs his truck back as soon as I can get it

If I had the funds to put a stall in while I replace the trans I would definitely do so...I applied for a better paying job last night, so hopefully they start hiring soon. Minimum wage sucks

sounds like you need an extension cord and a portable heater. I wired up an LT1 in my 92 truck in mid january is 20 degree weather at night. I had a truck tarp over the hood, shop light hanging from the underside of the hood and had a space heater under there working on it in short sleeves while in the middle of my driveway.
