I'm close to getting my 5.3 and T56 in my '92 but I still can't seem to get my hands around exactly what I need to retain from my original harness that came in the truck. The original set up was a 4.3 with a 5 speed manual.
I have a harness for the 5.3 that Allen reworked for the swap.
It seems like I can get rid of the original pcm, but I am not sure how much other wiring I can get rid of. Some of what goes to the pcm also goes across the firewall and back inside behind the drivers side. Do I have to cut anything or will everything unplug?
Also do I have to retain the fusible links that are under the cover on the firewall on the passenger side alongside the fuel pump relay?
I am planning on retaining the factory gauges. FWIW.
Hope this makes sense.
I just want the engine as neat as possible and would like to get rid of as much wiring as possible, cause I obviously adding a bunch with the new 5.3
Thanks in advance
