There is a guy on Silveradoss.com selling his VERY clean 454SS for $8k. It's so clean I hate to even mention it...thought about buying it myself.

I think any improvement to the engine in the 454SS is an overall improvement to the truck. You won't find many who will say the truck is a good truck by today's standards and I find it hard to believe anyone would seriously buy one as a collector vehicle so why not bring it up to today's standards and make it a good daily driver vehicle that can pull out 20 MPG rather than 10? Honestly, none of us own it so we can talk about putting a 5.0 HO Mustang engine in it in theory.

Greg, I really think you've fallen off your rocker with that last statement, bud. It kinda hurts my heart to hear you say such terrible things . The only 5.0 that should even be considered for that truck would have to have been pulled straight from the old road racing Camaros.

A good vehicle by todays standard doesn't mean much when you're talking about old cars. Buy a new car and it will go down in value fast, and continue going down in value for a long time. Buy a desirable old car and it will only go up in value. Funny how that works.

You can buy a 50s or 60s Corvette and it doesn't even matter if you keep it running or not, you won't lose money on it. By comparison a new Corvette is light years ahead in every way, but when you buy a new Corvette you will do nothing but lose big bucks on it with every day that passes.

I would guess the 454SS trucks have just about bottomed out in value by now. If a person bought one he could probably keep it for a very long time and not lose any money on it as long as he kept it looking good and didn't ruin it with an LS motor. Bone stock the 454SS isn't very quick, but it just takes a few mods to get them to run 13s or quicker. Bone stock the LS trucks are slow too.

Quick fact. The Shelby Dakota was faster with a TBI 318(With Shelby's touches). They're much more collectable too.

So does that mean a Toyota Tundra will be collectible some day?

I always thought they were cool trucks, and that one is pretty clean. The price is all wrong though.
