    Knock Sensor issue

Ok so today my Service engine light comes on, plug it in comes up knock sensor 2. Clear it drive it comes back on 5 minutes later. After work i drive it around and it finally goes off on its own. The whole time it was on the truck never ran different, had no power loss nothing. I am confused as to why it even came on and went off on its own? Should i replace them? my truck is an 02 escalade with the 6.0.

If you replace the sensors be sure to replace the harness, too. When you install them, torque them to proper spec and put silicone on the boots going to the engine block to prevent water from entering the knock sensor cavity and causing future corrosion. They are under the intake, if you didn't know that. Pull the fuel line connection(s), remove the wiring, disconnect the main vacuum hose from the brake booster, remove bolts and pull the intake. It may be advisable to replace the intake gaskets but I reuse them all the time without issue.

Yeah silicone all around the boot and where the wire goes in the boot. Anywhere you think water can get in the sensor somehow, silicone it. When you pull out the bad one you will see why.

i have the same problem i keep throwing a knock sensor codes, and it turns off on it own. ive replaced the both ks twice, along with a new ks harness, when i changed them the ses light didnt turn on for almost a year now it always on for a couple days then turns off. what could it be? dont think its bad sensors because i replaced both twice.
