Exclamation scary bang! thought i was a gonner

so i was sitting in my truck this afternoon and bang! then clang and nothing, so i shut the truck off. lemme give ya some background first before the punchline though.

my truck has been dying whenever my efans turn on. wasn't sure what was causing it. i did notice my truck was idling at about 450rpms since i swapped back to 1.75:1 ratio rockers. so i pulled the TB off and cleaned it really good, then adjusted the idle screw about 1 full turn. DBC by the way. started the turck and put everything back like it should be. then i turned on the a/c and sat in it for a bit listening to tenacious D.

all of a sudden, bam! clank! truck is still running heart has stopped beating, luckily i didn't soil my huggies. so i immediately shut the truck down and pop the hood, i look around for broken belts tensioners, wrenches stuck in fender wells, holes, anything to indicate i killed my truck.

but i see nothing, this whole time i have my arm up holding the hood open, when i let go of the hood to lean in for a closer look, it falls and nearly hits me in the head, that when i looked over and saw that the spring on the passenger side hood hinge is gone. appearantly it let go after i shut the hood and ba nced around inside the engine comp.

i found it on the ground and after some twisting, got it back in where it goes.

    scary, then laughter, still laughing

i have no idea, i've never known the springs to come loose. on a lighter note, my truck no longer dies at idle when the fans come on!

That happend to my buddies truck one time. We were at my house sitting in the garage just BS'n and all of a sudden a loud bam came from his truck. it sounded like someone hit it with a bat, we looked for about 20 mins and saw the spring was missing.
