i am in the process of building a 408 myself and looking to see close to 600 to the wheels, i know it may not be realistic but i talked to some professional builders and it seems it could be had with all proper parts, which is my intentions of buying

i see your wiesco pistons are -3, are your heads milled any? whats your CR? what size gasket you using?

haha, idk what the c/r is, but right now it has 29 degrees at WOT and i only run 93oct, and yes the heads are milled 45 thousandths, but they fully cnc'd too, i think they ended up at like 67cc, and i used factory l92 head gaskets, .051 i think was the thinkness, the dyno here in town is being moved and isnt set up yet, but hopefully ill get some numbers soon

a new 6.0L block is 749.00 most anywhere.

for 355, its a good deal, i bought a burn victim 6.0L out of a 2500HD and picked it up locally, i didn't go the stroker route but even still it makes for a cheap build up when you can find a good block cheap. If the engine has any kind of miles on it.
go ahead and get it bored .030'' over and build a 408ci stroker for the same money, you have alot more options when selecting pistons with that bore.

If you're going to build a 408 or 370, buy a seasoned factory block. The blocks that most people sell "new" are actually factory seconds and have something wrong with them somewhere that has to be fixed or may not affect anything. A seasoned block should alleviate any doubt about the quality of the finished product. Granted it won't be as pretty as a new one but it will be a better engine in the long run.
