Tonight, I loaded my truck up with about ~500lbs. of ceramic tile. I turned on tow/haul mode, and started going down the interstate. After a couple miles, the "Service Engine Soon" light started flashing. Nothing seemed to be malfunctioning. I got no error codes (I'm assuming error codes display in the message center). I turned tow/haul mode off, and after a short while, the SES light went off. After I unloaded the tile and restarted the truck, the SES light did not come back on. I anyone has any ideas about this, I would greatly appreciate it.

Nevermind, I dunno WTF happened, but I took the truck to the 24 HR Vatozone at midnight, and they hooked up their OBDII scan tool, and it showed no errors and no logs of errors

Today, I decided to use some GM Top Engine Cleaner on my truck. The stuff worked wonders and got rid of any minor pinging I was having before, which I am assuming now was due to some carbon deposits soaking up fuel. Anyway, after I let it sit for 15 minutes, and ran the engine at higher than idle rpm to blow all the crap out, the SES light started flashing again. So, I took it back to Vatozone and let them scan it again, and it said "multiple/random misfires detected" Do you think the Top Engine Cleaner cause this while it was working, or is it time for a new set of spark plug wires?

The top end cleaner causes the misfires. It may clear up. You may need to change plugs but the wires should be fine. If you have a few miles on the plugs it may be time to change them anyway.

I went about it bass ackwards... I have maybe 2,500 miles on my plugs... guess they'll get cleaned if need be. Oh, and for clarity, the SES light went away after the TEC was purged from the system.

If it continues to be a problem, let me know, I can adjust the misfire count, not turn it off, just simply increase it a bit. Something may be on the edge of setting it and these pcms can be kind of touchy sometimes.

    keep us updated,

I have run into this more than once. P1870 Trans comp slipping. I have no fix or answeres, But have seen this with No Load, Tow/Haul mode operation. Everytime I have seen this the code does not stay in the History. You would need a hi-end scan tool to comfirm this.

As far P300 Misfire I dont think its related. Top Engine Cleaner does that. You did a soak so it will take some time clean it out. I personly dont soak any engines except NorthStars you cant kill them nor ever get a engine light from top engine clean

That code usually pops up after a performance transmission is installed or a lot of performance parts in the trans. You can simply turn the code off, it's not hurting anything.

So far, so good, but I just ordered a new set of 8mm wires to be on the safe side. I got kind of rough with the wires (they're a real bitch to pull off the plugs) when I changed my plugs a little while back.

Whered you get that top end cleaner? I might try some of that myself to see if it rids me of my pinging.
