Well I got a sweet deal on a 4l80e so I guess I'm goin that route. I found a guy with a mild-mileage 80e that needed a 700r4 and he agreed to trade straight across! Go figure. Anyway, I found this converter and need to know what you guys think....GM 4L80E 9.5" 2800-3600 STALL TORQUE CONVERTER 4L80-E:eBay Motors (item 250549646150 end time Jan-15-10 10:05:08 PST)
I heard that going to a 9.5" converter on a 80e makes a big difference in parasitic losses and the stall on this converter will better compliment my cam. Comments welcome.
Also I still need to know if I need a 6.0 flexplate and spacer to run a 4l80e behind a 5.3
thanks
You will need a spacer and 6 hole flywheel.
The converter looks decent but the cheapest isnt always the best. I know a similar circle D verter is about $795

$795?! Holy piss! I know you have to pay to play but damn. This one has a one year warranty. Ill probably go with it unless someone has a good reason for me not to.
Yeah its expensive but 80e converters usually are more expensive. Ill be getting one when I go my swap. They are billet is why they are pricy.

@%$#!! Today I drove three hours one way to pick up what I was told was an 02 4l80e. After getting it home to look at it and doing a little research, I found out its a '96 model! Does this change anything major? I know they were changed a little throughout the years - I think 97 or 99 but I dont know if it changes if I can use it or not. Please advise!
I knew I should have done my research BEFOREhand so I would know what I was lookin at when I got there. Then, I could have identified it right there.
 WTH JUST HAPPENED?
