    Hard to put in park.

After i got the new tranny and diff work, I've been having trouble putting my truck in park. Sometimes I sit for a while trying to put it in park but stops at reverse.

Sounds like your shifter cable may be getting hung up. There is a black metal bracket that your shifter cable clips into on the driver's side of the tranny. Make sure to block your wheels, then climb under there and pop the end of the shifter cable off with a screwdriver, then take out the metal c-clip that holds the cable onto the metal bracket. Pull the shifter cable aside and try to shift the arm that the end of the cable attaches to back and forth. You should be able to move the little shifter arm coming out of the driver's side of the tranny easily by hand.

Push it all the way forward...then pull it back to R...then to N...then to D...etc. You should feel it go from P,R,N,D,3,2,1. Make sure to count all the gears. If for any reason it binds up or doesn't feel right, then the person who rebuilt your tranny messed something up inside with the gear shift selector.

BUT if everything moves easily, then push the arm all the way forward to P. Pull the shifter cable back up to the bracket that holds the cable and slide the black plastic part that is skinniest into the bracket and then click it into place. Then pop the end of the cable back onto the shifter arm.

I tired that... and it still does the same thing. I forgot to mention i can still take out the key. And when the shift selector is all the way up its in between reverse and park. Maybe a new cable?

Maybe not. The metal arm that comes out of the driver's side of the tranny that the end of the shifter cable connects to might not be on there correctly. Is the metal tab that the shifter cable clips on to facing inside towards the tranny or does it face outside, away from the tranny?

Also the plastic on the cable after the bracket before the end can crack and the cable kinks trying to push the trans lever forward. Make sure the shift lever on the column still has an operational detent spring that holds the lever forward in P.

sounds like they installed the shift selector switch wrong, breaking the plastic tabs off the inside of the selector switch.. you'll need a new one for it to work properly.. or it may need adjusting. to install one put the tranny in neutral then slide the selector switch on.

    HUGE +1. Good call!

Didn't even think of that since he said it hard a hard time getting there...and I was thinking more about the cable binding somewhere.

The shift selecter switch is the black plastic "Prindle" switch on the driver's side of the tranny that the gear selector arm comes out of. It is not easy to remove or install this part while your tranny is in your truck. But if you wanna tackle it--Block the truck's tires, put the truck in Neutral, and take the shifter cable off as done previously. Take the 13mm nut off that holds the metal arm that the end of the shifter cable clips on to. Make sure to take a mental picture of how it goes on. Then wiggle the metal arm off. Unplug the wiring harness. Next, unbolt the (2) 13mm bolts that hold the Prindle switch to the tranny. Wiggle the entire Prindle switch off the gear selector shaft that goes into the tranny. Once it is off, take a good look at the part where the gear selector shaft slides throught the Prindle switch--at about the 2 o'clock position, there should be two tick marks on the plastic. Take your pinky finger or a pencil and rotate the part where the metal shaft goes through the Prindle switch so that the two tick marks line up exactly. Make sure the truck is still in the Neutral position and slide the Prindle switch back on and reassemble.
