Smile 71 chevy 5.3 hyd slave cylinder/ removing fuel hoses from engine

Hello, i am working on my 71 chevy truck. 2 items to address. 1st is how do you remove flexible fuel lines from the engine. I am running 3/8 and 5/16 stainless tube and would like to connect to the factory flex lines if possible. 2nd question is I put the nv4500 5 speed in my truck from a 96. I have the stock all plastic slave cylinder but not impressed with it. It mounts on the firewall. The earlier model 92-95 had a cast iron with plastic resivoir. I do not like cheap stuff. Any ideas would be great. Thanks to all. Cheers, Alan

I'm not sure your stock lines can handle the higher pressure the 5.3 needs.

Go to your local auto parts store and tell them you need a tool to take a GM quick connection fuel line fitting off. You'll need two of them, one for 5/16" and one for 3/8". You slide the tool over the fuel rail side and shove it into the factory line, push the two together and then you slide the flex hose off.
