Depends on the year and the laws of your State.

Has anyone ever put just the trans temp gauge from another cluster into the trucks original cluster?

You could get an Aeroforce gage and put in on the pillar. It will report more than just trans temp, like 12 different readings directly from the PCM.

i put a 02 escalada speedo in mine.ive got a 01 suburban and everything works perfect.it does change the miles so if u can find one close to yours that would be great.i didnt care about miles as im gonna keep my truck for ever.but ive got the 120 speedo now and all functions perfect and the trans temp gauge is very cool to have.

ps.search the website car-part.com i got my speedo used for 100.00
