thats kinda dumb if you ask me...

how are you supposed to boost sales and make more money if you close down half of the dealerships? i get that they need to lower their "overhead" or whatever you want to call it, but still....

i think if they just made cars that were they quality that were paying for they would be doing just fine. i have one of GM's top-of-the-line models, and half the thing is cheap textured plastic and theres all sorts of little bits and pieces that are falling apart. and maybe quit paying the factory workers 30+ dollars an hour.....

Only thing I can see them beenfiting by this is less overhead. If you close half your stores, you have to stock half the lots you were with vehicles. Think about Houston, there are GM lots of every corner of the city. Will GM lose sales? Probably for the undecided folks that are just car shopping in general, but the people who wanted that certain GM car/truck are just going to drive to the lot that didnt get closed and buy it. Now instead of having to have 1 of those cars on 10 different lots in the same town they only have to have 5.

    Make any sense?

I dont think its the greatest thing or thinking, but if your deseperate I can see the reasoning.

Pontiac won't get killed before 2011 and if they do better it won't get killed at all. The dealer number is more like 42% close rate and they were supposed to be notified today. Please forget what happens to the lot cars and construct a good thought for the employees of dealer franchises. We need to eat too regardless of dumbass decisions by some corporate DH that is not linked to his community like dealer owners and employees.

    I have a bad feeling....

Nate you shouldn't have to worry, you're a GM trained licensed mechanic. If you do lose your dealership I can't see finding another job being that difficult.

Id say the biggest thing to worry about would be pensions/retirement funding if they go bankrupt.

Then why do we have no work yet GMWCT applicants from other stores that also have no work?
