I always take a hammer and hit the head of the bolt a couple of good sharp raps before loosening a bolt screwed into aluminum. Corrosion is your enemy and if you don't do that and they are corroded you may break one. Never trust that the person that put it together before you put anit-seize on the bolt before assembly. Don't forget to put some on the bolt when you put it back together. It's worth the price of the compound.

I have the cast iron heads. They are pretty heavy. Believe me i smack it around pretty good I did get it all back together and took it out for a ride. I was loosing alot of lowend to mid range power with the exhaust leak. WOT was about the same. While i had the heads off i took a good look at the pistons and cylinder walls and at 58,000 miles i could still see the cross hatch on the walls. Top of pistons were pretty clean of carbon and so was the head. While i was putting stuff back on I droped a bolt an of all places for it to fall right down the exhaust pipe Well i got out the trusty magnet and after about 1/2 hour i fished it out. Now you know why i don't do machanic work for a living. I would starve. I think I'll stick to computers and drawing plans.

Damn, that sounds like something that would happen to me. If I drop something it always finds it's way into a place that is a true pain to get it back. I always feared working on the carb and intake on my old V8s because I just knew that something would fall in.
