If you have a stock PCM and your cats are not working properly it will output an error/service engine soon light. If your PCM has been modified and the rear 02 sensor has been disabled you will not get the SES light. Also, if you have an 02 simulator installed in the rear sensor you will not get an SES light if the cat is defective. I believe the way it works with the PCM is the 02 sensor reads the 02 levels before and after the cat and compares the two. If they are the same, the PCM will turn on the SES code for a defective cat. I am not sure if it will show a plugged cat.

Well as far as I know the truck it totally stock. I just bought it.

Im thinking about putting a new exhaust instead of just the muffler and changing the cat too.

Im supposed to be working outside of Quero Tx so Im probably going to go to San Antonio a day or so early and get allen to tune my truck . Im hoping that will fix some of my problem.

Im offshore right now so when I get in im going to change my pcv valve for sure.

Any ideas for a good cat if I decide to go that way?

Well the two I put on one car I replaced for a pair of highflows from MAC performance... theirs lasted about 4K mi from MAC. So it didn't get any louder with them there.

When I put them on the F150 yeah it got louder but the stock cat setup was very poor and restrictive. That being said, I'd just expect it to get back to stock loudness on the newer trucks. Stock cats that aren't dead flow very well.

Cool deal i want something that works long term not just 4k miles. Hell Ill burn that up in 2 months. Im thinking about going with the magnaflow cat and muffler.

    Thanks for yalls help.

Now to figure out when I can get down to San Antonio to get this thing tuned.

    It will happen soon.

I havent heard anybody not happy with a Nelson tune so far. Im probably going to do something like a 93 hot tune since I run premium anyway.
