    stock pushrods

is anybody running stock pushrods with an aftermarket cam? i think i have decided on this cam and was wondering if i could get away with using the stock push rods and valve springs? are the valve springs a known weak point for the 5.3's?

We need to know the base circle diameter of the cam before we can answer your question.

if you plan on reving the engine to high RPMs don't risk making future problems by running the weak stock pushrods. For right around $100 you'll have insurance to keep you from damaging the engine when a weak factory rod bends on a high RPM run.

The Comp cam. We know the diameter of your stock cam (39.4mm). LS-series engines are good for about 0.5" valve lift for the cam to fit through the cam journals. Any higher lift and the base circle needs to be smaller for it to fit. If the base circle is not too much smaller (like the Z06 cams), you can get away with the stock pushrods w/o losing too much lifter preload.
