    '89 Truck Tuning Question

I had a tune done 5-6 years ago on my '89 TBI truck by a shop here locally that is now closed. I know, I know, LSX swap to come in the future, but I want this thing to run better in the meantime. My truck never seemed to run quite right with that tune and it seems to be getting a little bit worse. I was wondering if anyone knew of anyone around Texas still burning custom chips for these things?

Turbo City out of Cali is the number 1 place to go for custom chips for the older trucks.

I might end up doing that, I just was hoping there was someone in Austin, Houston or DFW that did it so that I could take my truck to them and have them tune it. I hate telling them what I have on the phone and hoping for the best, or leaving power on the table that I could have had.

I have an appointment tomorrow morning in San Antonio with Fuel Injection Specialties. I haven't delt with them personally yet, but I've heard lots of good things about them tuning for Eprom stuff. I haven't been able to get my truck running right since I did the motor build. I did a mail order tune from TBIchips but it isn't right.

Big Tap, are you "Spike" the dog? I'm going to throw something at you next time I'm there if you are.

You'll have to let me know how that goes Jon. If it works out alright for you, I might have to make a trip down there. It seems like it was running better when I had the Jet Chip with manual adjustments done to it. The idle gets real tempermental when it gets up to temperature or gets hot. I had it done at CCS here in Hutto/Pflugerville in 2002 or 2003. I had heard good things about their work, but it just didn't run quite like I'd hoped. Even if I didn't gain more power and someone made it more street friendly, I'd be happy. Tired of having to feather the pedal at times.

Yup, I'm Spike. If you throw something, you better get ready for me to throw it back...haha!

I'm going to get you some season seat #'s and can you mess with them, play a joke or something and tell them Kurt made you do it? It's my in-laws. You can dump beer on the guys head if you want.
