Anyone in the austin area have one i can borrow? Just need to test my fuel pressure, I am more then sure its really low. Its hard to start some times, and when im low on gas, it dies when I give it WOT. Im thinking i need a new fuel filter..

Its probably just starving for fuel when its low. The fuel sloshes away from the pickup tube/filter under acceleration. I don't let mine get below 1/4 tank to keep that from happening. Also, there is a plastic liner inside the tank that's supposed to hold the fuel in that area. The plastic cracks over time and then it doesn't work correctly. That's why you have to keep fuel in the tank, we don't have fuel buckets like the newer trucks have.

You're right Red, Ricky, just keep more than 1/4 tank in there, not that you can read the fuel level, doh, but just be sure to keep some in there.
When the pump was installed, some mods to the canister had to be done.

Oh hell, I forget you have a 98 and do have a fuel bucket but Allen says it was modified. Still, it doesn't quite work like stock. Keep 3/8 tank or more in there since the pump uses the fuel to keep it's cool.

I was going to mention those mods (tricks) when installing a new pump, but Allen as already performed those. But still, it wouldn't be a bad idea to replace the filter anyways...they are cheap and easy. Go ahead and ask your mom Ricky--she knows all about cheap and easy...Your filter should be along the driver's side frame rail. Just make sure to relieve the fuel pressure first--unless you want to get sprayed by some 93...
