    Anyone else go through oil?

Don't think my consumption is normal. I have to add a quart every month or so maybe.

    Thoughts...?

How many miles do you drive a month? The 1st and 2nd 408 I had in my truck used a quart of oil per fuel tank. This new engine doesn't do that anymore.

    I drive about 40 miles a day...so...1200 a month give or take?

Last time my oil light came on. Checked the oil and it wasn't even on the stick. Kind of sucks running AMSOIL at $6 a quart...

I have heard of v8's loosing oil because of wallowing in the cylinders. after so many miles the pistons wear into the cylinder walls and that creats blowby. not sure if that is what your problem is but just a thought. btw when I chang my oil after 3k miles it still reads full... I have 68k miles now.

Weird. My Z71 didn't burn any. Not a spot of oil in the garage either.

Not trying to hijack the thread guys, but my friends truck eats oil too, and when we took off his intake manifold it had an oil film all on the inside of it and down the intake ports of the heads. It looked like it was sucking up the oil through his valve covers?? It eats about 1/3 a quart a month.

Ive taken my intake off twice now for head swaps and i havent had a single drop of oil in my intake or my intake ports on my heads. We both still have our baffers on our valve covers too. Any thoughts to this?

what about a PCV problem?? thats where i see most Oil being sucked into an intake... I dont have enough miles on my 410 to talk of any issue... but I would think if its going to use oil it might be early on or towards the end of its life...I just checked mine last night and it hasnt moved on the stick...

My 5.3 uses about 1/3 of a quart every 3 to 5k also. I have 109,000 on it. Its not leaking anywhere and there is no residue on anything. It still runs like a champ. This may be normal but a quart a month seems a little high!
