im going with red ,i had the same problem ,gm says red is the thickest..i put it in and fine .these orings need to be adressed, its a constant problem and alot of trouble for a crucial part.but i think he said he checked it ,although it could be wrong 1 .

The oil pump was fine and installed right.

The oring was fine and installed correctly too, I've never had an issue with these. We put another new one in just in case.

To be honest we didn't build the rotating assembly, the machine shop did. We took over after the crank, rods and pistons.

The engine is out and we're checking the clearance today.

I know what the manufacturers say they want, but what clearances are standard amont the ls1 builders for the mains?

I'll check the cam bearings too.

    thanks,
    allen

Have the crank bores miked for roundness. You can do it with a set of calipers if you're meticulous. A dial bore gauge would be best. Torque the caps to finish torque levels and then check them. Also, check that the caps are snug in their positions without bolts in them. There's a slight interference fit on a good cap. If not, time for some billet caps or just have a machine shop re-align hone the mains. They'll have to take a couple thousandths off the mating surface of the caps and then hone the main bores.
