    Unhappy water proofing

I just bought a 95 LT1, the truck will see muddy trails water holes sand and snow, with a pretty much open engine compartment. can I even use this motor? can I waterproof the opti with silicone? Do I have to do that conversion every one talks about? Thanks for the help in advance -Ryan

sell the LT1 and go 5.3 or 6.0. The LT1 is old technology and the opti drowns easily. Parts are VERY expensive for the LT1. I had a 93 Corvette LT1 in my 92 C1500 for 150k and was glad to see it go even though it resides in my buddy's 89 SCSB and still runs like a striped ape.

I second that. I had an LT1 also I hated the optispark.
    6.0 all the way.
99RCSB Broke because I wasted thousands and thousands of dollars on my truck.

    why not

i have a 95 lt-1 in my 32 roadster, and it sees plenty of rain, have never had the problems that every body talks about with the dist, i have the vented one and it has worked great, this is the second old car i have put one in and love them, i have the 4.8 in my 83 gmc, and it is easier to work on, but not that much better motor

DO a TPI setup on a small block or go with a LS series motor. The LT's are a street motor and Ive blown the rotor off one opti. Thats why I have a MSD unit now. But, the LT keeps doing its job everyday of eating mustangs and LS camaros so Im happy. I have had my fair share of lost races due to a pro charged LS camaro here and there. _

PS the car runs mid to high 12's all day long.
